The Dreamer's Brigade is an army who believes that dreams can come true.
The Chief Dreamer's reality is music, which you are welcome (and encouraged) to listen to on our 'Music' page.
On the same night that John Lennon died, December 8, 1980, one man's musical destiny was born. It was that moment that Gary Nelson decided his dream was to make music. Poetry became lyrics and he began singing and perfecting his skills on guitar, piano, and drums.
In 1994, Gary released an album of original works titled The World of Dreams. The record featured top musicians from the Sioux City, Iowa area and received a great deal of positive interest from record labels. However, the album's pop rockers and heartfelt ballads did not match the desired 'grunge' or hip hop music they were seeking at the time.
Much like John Lennon, the musical journey was put on hold for parenthood. Gary became a house husband; he drove the minivan, helped with classroom parties, and wrote and played music every chance he got - naptime, night time, park time - whenver he didn't have kids demanding attention or needing a ride somewhere.
Digital music advancements opened a whole new world of possibilities. Having never even turned on a computer, Gary bought himself recording software and more musical instruments and got to work. Born in America is the result of hours of experimenting, learning, and recording. All the Dreamer's Brigade music and lyrics were written, composed, arranged, produced, engineered, mixed, mastered, and performed exclusively by our very own Gary Steven Nelson.
The Dreamer's Brigade became a reality because it took a militant effort to hang onto the musical adventure. Gary's utlimate goal for the Dreamer's Brigade is to help othes achieve their dreams and to provide an oasis of hope in the stuggles of daily living.
Born in America is a thematic collection of real melodies and hopeful lyrics in the tradition of 70's album rock. The music will inspire you, take you back to a simpler time, and leave you feeling positive and hopeful. There's a little something for everyone in this richly arranged, first release from The Dreamer's Brigade.
The title track, Born in America, reflects one man's belief that American ideals still exist. Although our country is struggling right now, individuals can still pursue love, life, liberty, and happiness in America. Dreams can become reality for those who have the fortitude and vision of our predecessors.
For all of you who have dreams you want to make a reality,
you've come to the right place. Come, join the Dreamer's Brigade.
